On ocassion when I see images I’ve captured through the camera’s lens, I get excited to share them. I am grateful that sometimes I am allowed to see what others don’t. Simple things like the light hitting its subject just right, a segmented pattern within a chaotic scene, the dragonfly’s delicate wing

structure, or a quick glimpse of a bird or animals behavior. It is a gift that I love to share. Within these images I find myself marveling at the simple beauty that surrounds us. It helps wash away some of the superficial world we live in and appreciate what is real.

I remember one time when our girls were very young and we were canoeing in the Boundary Waters. We found a cascading waterfall where the water rushed from one smooth rocky ledge to another. We played in this rushing stream as it meandered through mossy rock, big ferns, and flowed under the shade of the tall trees. It made a 95 degree day very enjoyable. I remember after playing in this natural water slide for a while, our oldest daughter looked around and asked, “Did somebody make this place?” I said no, this is a place that only God could make. A pure and simple answer to the question “What is Real?”
